One of the biggest advantages of Worpress over Blogger is that you can upload a multitide of different media files. The down side is this costs you some of your hard earned greenbacks. On WordPress this is called a “Space upgrade”. The cheapest of upgrades is $19.97 (kind of steep) but this allows you a total of 8 Gigs of storage space (an upgrade from Worpresses free 3 Gigs). The 3 free Gigs allows you to upload images (jpg, jpeg, png, gif) and documents (pdf, doc, odt) and presentations (ppt). With the Space Upgrade you can upload music (mp3, m4a, wav, ogg).
So the biggest advantage of the cheapest space upgrade is that you can now upload audio files. Why’s this a big deal? Well with the addition of audio files you can increase the type of information you can share with your readers. With this upgrade you’re no longer limited to just posting images to your blog. You can now share audio interviews from other artists, audio recordings of yourself discussing photoshoots, interviews with people you encounter on a photo journalism assignment and even things as simple as ambient noises from a location shoot. All of this allows you to enrich your readers (or potential clients) with inside information on yourself and your work. If you ask me I think its a great deal and an even greater way to separate your blog from all the others.
